Trio Connect is a program that you can install on your Windows or Mac device to set up special profiles on iPhones and iPads.
Why is Trio Connect necessary? Because Apple's iOS and iPadOS have strict policies that make it difficult to monitor iPhones and iPads without using their built-in management tools, especially when managing multiple devices at once, which is often the case for schools.
Trio Connect works in 3 simple steps:
Install the Trio Connect app on your Windows or macOS device and connect the Apple device you want to enroll to it using a cable.
Open Trio Connect and select the connected device. The Trio School’s profile will be installed on the connected iPhone or iPad.
Install Trio Student on the student’s iPhone/iPad from the App Store. Open Trio Connect and pair it with your Trio Connect account using a pairing code.
Features available after adding devices with Trio Connect:
Safe Search and Web Filter let you block inappropriate search results and websites.
Smart Screen allows you to set device usage limits.
Smart App Rules lets you block unsuitable apps and exempt apps from Smart Screen limits.

This document focuses on iOS and iPad devices. To ensure maximum security and control over these devices, we have developed Trio Connect. In this document, we will introduce Trio Connect and explain how it works.
Trio Education & Trio Connect
Trio Connect is an application available on Windows and macOS. It installs a profile on iPhones and iPads, allowing full device supervision.
Trio Student is the agent app for Trio Connect that needs to be installed on the devices you wish to manage. It guarantees that all the rules set on the Trio Education panel for classrooms are strictly followed on students’ devices.
Why Trio Connect Is Necessary
Apple’s iOS and iPadOS have strict policies that make it difficult to monitor iPhones and iPads without using their built-in management tools. This becomes even more challenging when you need to manage multiple devices at once, which is often the case for schools.
To address this issue, we created Trio Connect, which allows you to fully supervise all iOS/iPadOS devices by installing the aforementioned profile on them.
How Trio Connect Works
Now, with that out of the way, the question comes up, “What is the role of Trio Connect?”
In simple terms, Trio Connect uses Apple’s built-in device management settings to ensure your rules are applied, setting the stage for installing Trio Student on students’ devices.
After installing the Trio Connect app on your Windows or macOS device, you should directly connect the Apple device you want to enroll to it using a cable. Then, you must open Trio Connect and select the connected device on it.
Here’s when the magic happens! The Trio Education's profile, which is only recognizable by Apple, will be installed on the connected iPhone or iPad. Once the student's device is restarted, you should search for Trio Student on the App Store and install it on the student’s device.
The rest is easy! You just need to open Trio on the student’s device and pair it with your Safes School account using a pairing code.
How Safes Connect Is Different
You may ask, “Is monitoring Apple devices any different compared to devices with other OSes?” The short answer is yes, but you won’t notice the difference.
When it comes to the rules you set for devices, the features provided on all platforms work almost identically. Here is what you can do once you pair devices using Safes Connect.
Safe Search
Block inappropriate search results on popular search engines like Google, Bing, etc.
Select keyword categories like adult content, violence, and more. Safes School blocks search results when students search for words in selected categories.
Manually add keywords so that students can’t search for them.
Make exceptions on words blocked by keyword categories without unblocking the whole category.
Web Filter
Block inappropriate websites on students’ devices.
Select website categories like adult content, violence, and more. Safes School stops students from visiting the websites in selected categories.
Block websites by manually adding their URLs.
Make exceptions on websites that are blocked by website categories without unblocking the whole category.
Smart Screen
Set device usage limits on students’ devices. After this time limit is reached, they cannot open any applications on their devices.
Smart App Rules
Block unsuitable apps on students’ devices.
Add useful or urgent apps as exceptions and exempt them from Smart Screen limits.
Geofencing
Specify the radius of your school and each class on the map.
Make sure that students’ personal devices (BYOD) follow your rules only when they are within the school or the classroom’s radius and only during school hours.
