Content filtering on the Safes parental app helps you protect your children by controlling what they can access online. With this feature, you can block inappropriate websites, restrict access to specific apps, and ensure your kids browse safely. It allows you to filter content based on age-appropriate categories or your preferences. Suggested filters are also offered by Safes to provide a healthier experience for your child. You can make changes to them later.

This ensures a safer digital environment, prevents exposure to harmful content, and gives you peace of mind while your children use their devices.

What does each one of these items do?

  1. Allowed: Content and categories that are whitelisted and children are allowed to browse them.

  2. Blocked: Content and categories that are inappropriate and children may not browse them on the internet.

Parents can allow or block certain items on the child's device to restrict the harmful content. Safe Search, Web Filter, and app content are filtered and monitored using content filtering. Parents can look into the list of content categories that help them easily block inappropriate content and prevent harmful experiences for their children.

Each category can be enabled to apply restrictions. These categories contain thousands of different items, including keywords and URLs.

What are Safe Search and Web Filter?

  1. Safe Search: A feature that helps parents allow or block certain keywords to prevent their children from having an unhealthy internet experience.

  2. Web Filter: A feature that lets parents allow or block certain URLs (websites.)

What's the difference between categories and exceptions?

  1. Categories: A group of words/URLs that might be inappropriate for the children to review. They can be blocked or allowed.

  2. Exceptions: Unique keywords/URLs that can be added as an allowed or blocked exception, so for example if the category is blocked, the child searches for the allowed items, and vice versa.

Managing Categories and Exceptions

  1. On the parent app's home page, you'll see the child's card. Tap on "Rules".

  2. After navigating to the Rules page, select "Content Filtering" at the top of the list.

If you enable the content filtering feature, you will be able to select from the categories and manage to block the inappropriate material or add exceptions (either allowed or blocked.)

  3. If an item is added as a blocked exception, even when the category is allowed, the child won't be able to look for it. You can also add items as allowed exceptions, so even if the category is blocked, children will still be able to look for that item.

To apply the content filtering functionality on YouTube or Text, Android devices need to download the upgraded version from the Safes website.

Apple and Windows devices do not support the feature. The team is working to release an update to support Apple devices as well.
